Design and Development of Chess Playing Robotic Arm

Design and Development of Chess Playing Robotic Arm

The aim of this project was to design and develop a chess playing robot that is capable of recognizing the chess pieces, generating subsequent standard moves and executing those moves. The robotic manipulator arm was designed with Aluminum sheet subject to weight constraints and servo motors were used for the link movements. The servos were configured with Arduino Mega and the image processing task for the recognition of the chess pieces was carried by Raspberry Pi. The objective of the project was to design a robotic arm with the task of picking and placing the chess pieces on the board as well as to develop a vision algorithm for the recognition of the chess pieces.
